PostJam Jam Update
So... I decided to enter the PostJam Jam. It's a good opportunity to boost my productivity & keep working on the game.
Since the the GMTK GameJam (& the post jam update), I completely Reworked the game. Started a new project from scratch, only scraping the assets & a small part of the code. I managed to put everything back together & add a few new features.
- Completely reworked the UI to be more clear & have the action pattern display integrated more efficiently in the game Layout.
- Reworked the AI a bit since the PostJam update to make it more aggressive. It will now attempt to move to hit the player's units if it cannot gather coin & will choose the position where it can accomplish the most damages. Dropped the easy AI since it was not compatible with the new version (the current ai is still largely beatable, so no worries).
- Added more type of fighters (MassMan, FlailMan, Halberdist, MarksMan, Priest, Witch, Necromancer).
- 3 new type of actions & their coresponding animations
- Heal (Priest) : Will fully heal the fighters (ally & ennemies) in the action zone.
- Convert (Priest) : Will convert ennemies in the action zone into allies.
- Raise the deads (Necromancer) : Will spawn an ally skeleton in place of the ennemies if killed.
- Possibility to form your own team before starting a battle by picking 8 type of fighters.
- Updated the old fighters costs & attack pattern to balance the new set of fighters.
- The battle now start with an empty battlefield & each player will own 3 coins to spend on fighters.
- Balanced the dices rolls to avoid avoid frustrating rolls (full movement or full attack turns should not happens so much anymore)
- Animated the dices rolls
That's it for this version (appart some eventual bugfixes).
My next steps will be to implement baricades & pit trap in the game. I'm also planning on full rework of the AI as I'm not currently satisfied with it's behavior... (bad AI ! Bad !). Once All that implemented I'll start working on the campaign (Very excited to finnaly get to that part).
